So the Oscars were last night! I LOVED the show. It did last a little long! I felt like they really focused on the technical side of film…I know they deserve the recognition but I wish they would focus more on the actors. I mean, yay for the sound mixers, BUT come on…I wanna see the stars!!!! Speaking of stars…let’s talk fashion!!! Open a new window and go HERE so you can follow along! Amy Adams red number…not a fan. I felt like a lot of the women chose beautiful colors and cut but lost the edge with odd additivies. Why the upsweep on this beautiful red gown? Odd. Jessica Biel…AWFUL!!! She looks like she has a growth on one side of her chest…it’s terrible! Josh Brolin and Dianne Lane…classy! Marion Cotillard’s Dior gown was beautiful BUT…her hair was not done well. It didn’t match the gown. I felt like they had spent 3 hours getting her into the dress and 10 min on her hair…not well done. LOVED LOVED LOVED Penelope Cruz!!! The gown was 60 years old, she had seen it in a shop 8 years ago and went back to get it for the Oscars and it was still there! That’s destiny! Ok…I am NOT a Miley Cyrus fan for several reasons…one being the fact that normal she can’t keep her clothes on in pics! However she looked radiant last night!! The dress was stunning, age appropriate and just wonderful! Ok…I know I am going to have some people that are NOT going to like what I’m fixing to say BUT…It’s my blog…I’ll say what I want. WHY OH WHY were the stars of High School Freakin Musical on THE ACADEMY AWARDS????!!!!! IT was torture!!!! I was so annoyed! James Franco looked very very elegant with a modern edge…very nice! Angelina Jolie…fabulous!! I LOVED the all black gown with the emerald jewels! Very simple, VERY elegant! She has come so far!! Alicia Keys…what were you thinking…terrible gown! Heidi Klum…not impressed. I felt like she was way off. Not that everyone has to look the same but it felt like there was a running theme and she didn’t fit in…of course I guess in Hollywood that’s the point. Maybe it’s her blond hair…I just feel like you lose her in the dress. All I see are these red harsh lines and no Heidi Klum. What was up with Melissa Leo’s hair?? Abba called…they want their hair style back. Virginia Madsen…now THAT’S the way a red dress should look on a woman. Gorgeous! Sarah Jessica Parker…can you say MAJOR boob job!! I mean…I thought torpedos were gonna come shooting out of those things! The gown was a little Cinderella for me. Oh…and I am not a fan of that terrible hair color she has going on right now. Frieda Pinto, she is a pretty girl. Not a fan of the dress. I think she could have done better. It wasn’t awful though. Mickey Rourke looked fantastic!!! He was very rock and roll!! I liked it! Amanda Seyfried…awful, just awful! A bow…are you kidding me?!! All hail Meryl Streep for the amazing talent she is…the dress…not so much. I wanted to see her in a beautiful jewel tone…perhaps an emerald green or rich eggplant…not dull beige. Poor Tilda Swinson…I swear she is daft when it comes to fashion. The bottom part of the dress is great…then you look up and it’s a disaster!!! I mean she knows she’s a woman right?? You have a chest…don’t cover up with a beige sheet! I loved everything about Kate Winslet’s gown…except for the odd shoulder strap. I don’t mind the strap so much as the fact that it doesn’t match the other side. The other side is very finished looking and then the strap looks like they couldn’t figure out how to make it look the same. Just odd…but other than that she looked stunning! Whoopi Goldberg looked GREAT!!! I have to say that it was so nice to see the stars out in all their glitz and glamour. In times like these it’s great to see beauty and grace and style and wealth. It gives us hope…because after all tomorrow is another day!! Remember…BE FABULOUS!!!
Fabulous Fashion Advice: American Music Awards November 24, 2008
Well I’m glad they were giving out awards for music and not fashion that’s for sure! First off let me start by saying that by FAR the best performance of the night was Sarah McLachlan and Pink. WOW! I mean just pure voices and piano. Proving that true talent lies in the ability to sit at a piano and just SING. Amazing! Ok..now for the bad. Miley Cyrus…are you freaking kidding me. The CHILD is 16 and was prancing around on stage like either A. a stripper, B. a person having a seizure, C. a complete idiot, or D. All of the Above. I’m going with D. I mean WOW….what a crummy performance. The song and all that is interesting…I totally got where she was coming from and the whole car with the paparazzi was great but then the camera turns to her and you just have to say to yourself…I thought she was just 16. Why is it that CHILDREN these days think it’s ok to act like adults? The better question I guess would be what kind of IDIOT PARENTS, MANAGERS, AGENT says you know what…let’s put her on stage and have her dance like a stripper?! Please don’t get me wrong…she is very talented and has a great voice. Why does she have to spaz out on stage like that. ARG! One thing about it though…her outfir was very cute. Ok…now for Rhianna…what a disaster! I mean both her performance outfit and her acceptance speech outfit were hideous. Her dress was like GAG! and then her performance “thing” whatever that was… I mean was she blind when wardrobe came to her?! I’m surprised she didn’t gash someone’s eye out with that steel corset get up. Too terrible for words! Now I know some of you are going to think I’m nuts but I LOVED Alicia Keys dress and whatever that was on her head. LOVED it!! Love the sparkles! I know it’s a little out there BUT…it’s an awards show and she’s amazing! I have NO CLUE what’s going on with Beyonce but I’m telling you that it’s a recipe for disaster. What is with that whole metal thing on her finger and hand? Stupid. Kanye West looked like Lamar Burton on Star Trek with those stupid glasses…dork! I dig the Jonas Bros thing…like the suits, very nice. Pussycat Dolls AKA Slut Central. Wow.. I mean come on…if I want to see a strip show I’ll go to a strip club. I asked my husband to change the channel…it was tacky and there is no excuse for that. It’s not artisty, it’s not creative and it’s not impressive. Taylor Swift…very impressive. I think that’s the best performance I’ve seen her do live. She looked great and sounded great…take notes Miley! SO…I really don’t have anything else to say about it…overall…not that impressive. Special thanks to Sarah and Pink for making it worth the watching. These are just my observations but I think I’m spot on here. Please take notes from these people…you can learn a lot more about what NOT to do than what TO do. Remember…BE FABULOUS!
Fabulous Fashion Advice: CMA’s and other oddities November 14, 2008
First of all let me explain the “oddities” part of my post…I am sitting on the couch watching football with my husband who also happens to be deep sea fishing on his IPhone. He keeps using every bit of his might to throw his “fishing line” way out into the water but looks like he is trying to throw his phone at the TV. HAlarious! Anyway, we were watching the CMA (Country Music Association) Award show last night and I thought everyone looked pretty great with one very obvious exception…Martina McBride during her performance. She was wearing some kind of hideous leatherish pants with boots that looked like they came out of Gene Simmons closet and some awful black top. She looked like she was TRYING to look as if she were 23…well…she’s NOT! The pants were NOT flattering AT all…her butt looked as flat as a pancake. So here’s my FFA for the day…dress your age. I mean look at Nicole Kidman. She looked FANTASTIC…and that was just recently POST BABY!! Are you kidding?? She’s looked amazing! I think that it’s important to age gracefully and that does not include wearing…when you are over 45…leather pants. I mean get real! I just think it would be nice for everyone to remember when you go shopping that it’s ok to be stylish and push the envelope but if you THINK it might be pushing it too much…chances are it is. It never hurts to ask not only the sales person but all some of the other shoppers. I know this is going to sound odd but if you can find a man ask him. Just make sure A. that his wife/girlfriend (if he has one) doens’t mind and B. that you don’t come across as hitting on him. I promise you though, you can’t beat a man’s opinion! Just keep your age in mind and I think a good rule to remember is to ask yourself “Would Jackie O, Marilyn Monroe, Coco Chanel or Princess Dianna wear this?”. If the answer is no, put it back on the rack. Seriously! REMEMBER…BE FABULOUS!!!
