White House Mishaps July 13, 2010

I got this comment a while back and just now really noticed it…

From Miss M:

Well,

First, I do not think First Lady Obama has any fashion sense…fashion mishaps, yes! Her clothes are for 20 year olds not a 45 year old mother of 2. Where are the pantyhose? She is no longer dressing for herself but representing the United States of America to the world. That hideous green dress was awful with the forest green Jimmy Choos and the JCrew gloves. Three greens don’t make it right.

And no, she will never be a Jackie O or in her league. Jackie O had style and class….Michelle lacks both. The white inaugural gown was awful……again, appropriate for a 20 year old not a 45 year old. She can be stylish and classic but so far……she is receiving a failing grade. Let’s hope someone step in and intervene soon or the world will be laughing at the First Lady!

My response.   Ladies and gentlemen please hold your applause until the end!!

There may be a lot of mishaps happening at the White House but it’s certainly not fashion related. Pantyhose?? Really??? No…no…no…no pantyhose allowed unless it is freezing cold and you’re wearing pumps or boots. Fashion is no longer what it used to be. The rules our mothers lived by no longer apply. I think it’s very refreshing to see women/mothers trying to dress like they still give a crap about what the men in their life think…more importantly what THEY think about themselves. GONE are the days of frumpy mom who always smells like baby lotion! GONE I say!! Mom’s today are more FABULOUS than ever before! Give me a mom in skinny jeans chunky boots and loads of bracelets with a dash of the newest Juicy Couture perfume!! Since when can Michelle Obama NOT dress for herself??? That’s absurd. If she’s not being herself then she’s not representing America because that’s who WE THE PEOPLE are. We are individuals, with different styles and quirks. Our individuality is what sets us apart and I think she represents us well…fashionably speaking! My ears are perked up but I hear no laughing yet Miss M.

Fabulous Fashion Advice: Michelle Obama and the dress January 21, 2009

So the dress was designed by Jason Wu, a relatively new talent in the fashion world.  I was very impressed that she chose someone of little reknown…it’s SO refreshing to have a First Lady that actually cares about fashion and doesn’t settle for looking like a PTA mom.  The gown was stunning and you can see a pic HERE.  When I first saw it I thought it was cream but it turns out it is a light pale yellow.  It’s beautiful.  I had someone say that she needed to dress her age…are you kidding me??  What?  Just because she is in her 40’s means that she has to dress boring?  Because that’s what you are saying…she is 28 anymore…she should dress like a soccer mom.  NO!  NO I say!!!  ONWARD FASHION!!!!  Can you imagine the gall of someone to say that she should dress OLDER???  They are HIGH!  She looked stunning and elegant.  I was very proud as I know millions of americans were!  We ARE going to see GREAT fashion moments from Michelle Obama.  The Inauguration and Inaugural Ball is the first of many GREAT moments in her fashion life!  I’m excited to watch her style develop!  So here’s great piece of fashion advice…if you want to dress like an old lady and if you want to have NO style at all…do exactly OPPOSITE of what Michelle Obama does and you will have succeeded!  REMEMBER…BE FABULOUS!

Fabulous Fashion Advice: Michelle Obama’s Inaugural gown!!!

SHE LOOKS FABULOUS!!!  I don’t know yet who the designer is but it’s GORGEOUS!!  It’s a cream, long, greacian inspired, one shouldered, with what looks like feathers and beautiful rhinestones/crystals!!  Absolutely ravishing!  President Obama is wearing a black, two button tux with a cream shirt and cream bowtie.  They look stunning!!!  Welcome to the World Mr. President and First Lady!!  Welcome to the world!

Fabulous Fashion Advice: Inauguration is upon on us…what will Michelle wear?! January 19, 2009

SO we are almost at Inauguration Day and we still have NO CLUE what Michelle is going to be wearing.  I can honestly say that I have NO idea what she will choose.  I have found about 40 different choices from FABULOUS designers.  HERE is the link.  If I were to guess and narrow it down I would say she would go with

1. Monique Lhuillier 2/40 is the number on the slide show.

2. POSSIBLY the green Carolina Herrera number but I just don’t think so 3/40.
3.  I LOVE the Badgley Mischka creation…beautiful! 4/40
4.  Michael Kors blue gown is GORGEOUS 14/40
5.  Elie Tahari eggplant gown is really great too 22/40

Those are my picks.  I guess we shall see tomorrow.  I know whatever she chooses it will be fabulous!!  REMEMBER…even though you are the new First Lady…you can still exude class and elegance…and the ALL Important FABULOUSNESS!!!  Remember…BE FABULOUS!

Fabulous Fashion Advice: Michelle Obama’s Inaugural gown update December 16, 2008

So I hear that the race is on for the bid to be Michelle Obama‘s designer of choice for the Inauguration.  Sketches have been released from several top designers..check it out HERE.  I favor the Michael Kors sleek blue gown.  I think this is a very regal design and would suit Mrs. Obama very well.  It will prove interesting.  You know Im sure a lot of people think that this is a bunch of foolishness…who cares what the woman wears…but you know…it does matter.  It matters because she is now (whether you agree with their politics or not) representing our country and to tell you the truth whether I agree with the outcome of the election or not I want my First Lady to be the Belle of the Ball.  She needs to be regal, gentle, exquisite and above all else FABULOUS!  I find that she most always makes great fashion choices so I don’t look for her to dissappoint for the Inauguration.  She will be the star that night…not him.  I think it’s going to be refreshing to have someone in the White House that we actually say to each other…”Did you see what she wore?  Wasn’t that FABULOUS!”.  Let’s keep our eye on her and REMEMBER…BE FABULOUS!!!

Fabulous Fashion Advice: The View, The Obamas, The Today Show and Beyonce November 26, 2008

I’m sitting here watching The View and Barbara is talking about her interview with The Obamas.  First of all…Barbara Walters…what a classy lady.  She is just beautiful…class all the way.  So they show a clip, a rather long clip, of her intereview with The Obamas and I find myself being charmed by this couple.  Let’s leave the politics out of it…they, as PEOPLE are quite charming.  Michelle, like I’ve said before, always looks put together and has such an aura of class and grace but in a new modern way.  I’m actually looking forward to the interview tonight…more so the part where they are together as a couple as opposed to just him and his politics.  Anyway, enough of that…just thought I’d mention the interview…I think it will be interesting to watch.  Now, The Today Show…Beyonce was performing and to be quite honest after her appearance at the AMA’s I wasn’t expecting much.  It was not that great…it was ok…not great.  I just don’t get the whole Sasha Fierce thing, her alter ego.  AT LEAST…AT LEAST…she didn’t wear that stupid metal hand thing.  Ok I know I’ve alreayd talked about that…so on to her performance today.  It was really good…her outfit I can’t decide if I liked it or not.  She wore this black spandex looking bodysuit that had some kind of belt or pin at the waist with black boots.  Part of me liked it and the other part of me wasn’t sure.  I have to keep in mind that I’m sure it was butt freezing cold out there so she has to dress warm and what could be warmer than a full body suit?  My recommendation…leave the body suits to Beyonce and just go with some nice black leggins.  Very classy under a long chunky sweater with a great belt and big jewelry.  I LOVE that look…in fact…I think that’s what I’m going to wear today!  You can’t go wrong with that look.  Here’s a funny tid bit for you…this shows you how much I think about shopping.  I was watching Beyonce performing, keep in mind she is only about 1 1/2 blocks from THE Saks Fifth Ave store ON 5th AVE!…I found myself wondering if when she got done performing if she would stop by there or Bergdorf Goodman and do some shopping!!!  Hahahaha!!  This is a great story…I have to tell you….My family and I were in NYC for vacation a couple of years ago and Chrisitan Dior was having a trunk show at Bergdorf Goodman and I found THE MOST FABULOUS suit…it was GORGEOUS!!  So I tried it on and put my name on the list to have them get it for me and as I was looking on the order sheet I saw “Beyonce” next to the suit I wanted!!  So we finish the fitting and walk around to the shoes and THERE SHE IS!!!  BEYONCE has JUST TRIED ON THE SAME OUT FIT I HAD!!!!  It was SOOO awesome!  So that’s one of my claim to fame…I have worn the same fabulous dress as Beyonce!  It was soo funny!  Ok so anyway just be smart with the fashion choices you make, don’t be afraid to take risks, and make it fun and fabulous!  REMEMBER…BE FABULOUS!!!!

Fabulous Fashion Advice: Michelle Obama November 18, 2008

First of all…this is NOT a political forum.  This blog is about FASHION and anything else I deem FABULOUS!  With that being said…I think that Michelle Obama has great fashion sense…well her team of stylists rather.  She always looks great!  I’ve heard a lot of people talk about her becoming an icon like Jackie O….well those are rather big shoes to fill and I think it’s quite a stetch to think that ANYONE could be as much of an Icon as Jackie O.  BUT…I do think that she is on her way to making big waves in the fashion community.  She’s always very elegant but in a new way.  It’s a modern take on and old style of dressing.  I just think she is a very classy lady and that we could all take a page out of her book and try to be as classy as that.  I, just like everyone else in the fashion world, can’t wait to see what she wears to the Inaugural Ball.  There have been many great moments of fashion at the Inaugural Ball…Jackie Kennedy for example or the gown First Lady Taft wore in 1909.  I know that it will be quite a show and Im excited to see what choices she makes.  I just hope that we don’t put her so high on a fashion pedastal that we are totally devasted if she happens to make a huge fashion DON’T.  Let’s pray that doesn’t happen.  REMBEMBER…BE FABULOUS!!!
